Hello there guys, today we will look at a few tips for making a wedding toast when you are honoured with the privilege or when you’re called upon to make the wedding toast for both the groom and the bride! It can be a nerve racking moment for you! This article is meant to give you some pointers and advice on how to nail that speech! Here we go!
1. Be yourself!
One of the reasons why you were selected for this part was probably because of your personality! Being yourself goes a long way in connecting with your audience, and most importantly the bride and groom!
2. Don’t make it all about you!
Make sure not to get too carried away in your speech, try and make the newlyweds feel that it is their day!
3. Don’t mention any exes!
I’m sure we have all experienced a wedding toast that went on too long or near got people yawning for relief! If your toast takes this unfortunate turn, do not make the mistake of trying to be funny by mentioning any Exes. Of the many tips for making a wedding toast, this should be number one… Don’t mention any of their exes. Period!
4. Don’t go negative.
Maybe you and your friend have a teasing relationship in private, and that can be totally fine. But his wedding probably isn’t the time to make fun of his indecisiveness or the fact that he still hasn’t found a job.
5. Do a test run
If you’ll be at a bridal shower, test out your toast on the bride’s mom (who may be your mom too, if you’re the maid of honor/sister making the welcome toast!). Practice in front of the Mirror! Get a small audience that will vet your performance. This will give you confidence.
Finally, brush on the basics, Which are:
Introduce yourself. Who you are and how do you know the groom?
Talk about what you have observed in their relationship
Have a great story of how you shared moments together
Wish them all the best in their marriage!
These are just but a few of my Tips for Making a Wedding Toast, follow them in your own way and am sure you will ace that speech!
